Verification Service Options

From May 28, 2026, Tower Records Japan requires phone number verification before customers can place orders, use Marketplace, pick up store reservations, or pre-pay for live events. The verification uses a special voice call mechanism — different from standard SMS verification — which causes most international users to get stuck. This service completes Tower Records phone verification on your behalf with a 100% success rate, using a real Japanese mobile number.

How Tower Records Phone Verification Works

On 26 February 2026, Tower Records announced a new two-factor authentication system requiring all account holders to complete phone number verification. The mandatory enforcement date is 28 May 2026. Unlike Mercari, SNKRDUNK, or Pokémon Center Japan — which send an SMS verification code to your registered number — Tower Records uses a special voice call verification mechanism, not standard SMS.

The verification matches the registered phone number against an outgoing voice call from that same number. Standard SMS verification methods do not work for Tower Records. This is fundamentally different from how Mercari, SNKRDUNK, or Pokémon Center handle verification — and for international users without a Japanese mobile number, this is the bottleneck.

Why International Users Get Stuck

Three reasons most overseas customers cannot complete this verification on their own:

  • 050 numbers are explicitly rejected. Japan-issued IP phone numbers (050 prefix) — including most VoIP services — are excluded by Tower Records' verification system.
  • Foreign numbers are technically allowed but unreliable. Tower Records' own official notice states that overseas phone numbers can register, but warns: international calling charges apply, and "100% operation is not guaranteed due to local communication conditions." In practice, voice verification from outside Japan frequently fails.
  • VoIP and virtual numbers fail verification. Google Voice, Skype Number, TextNow, and similar services do not reliably work with Tower Records' verification mechanism, even when registration appears to succeed.

The only verification method that works reliably is using a real Japanese mobile or landline number from inside Japan.

Which Tower Records Activities Require Verification?

Tower Records' official policy makes phone verification mandatory for:

  • Online shopping orders (tower.jp purchases)
  • Marketplace transactions (Tower Records' second-hand C2C marketplace, mpp.tower.jp)
  • In-store pickup for online orders
  • Live event and venue pre-payment reservations — including K-pop, J-pop, Johnny's, idol meet-and-greet, and other limited live ticket pre-payment via member login

Verification is not required for browsing or news reading. There is also an exception: customers paying with Amazon Pay, or logging in via Amazon Login or dAccount, are exempted at checkout — but only for standard online shopping. Marketplace, in-store pickup, and live event pre-payment still require phone verification regardless of payment method.

If you are buying limited-edition releases, Tower Records exclusives, idol fan club merchandise, K-pop / J-pop sealed product, or pre-paying for live events, phone verification is unavoidable.

How Our Service Works

  1. Place your order. Choose Standard or Express Verification. At checkout, let us know your Tower Records account email so we can coordinate timing.
  2. Receive your instructions. Our team contacts you with step-by-step guidance for completing Tower Records phone verification using your dedicated Japanese number.
  3. Follow the instructions. Complete the verification on your Tower Records account page following our guidance. We handle the technical voice call requirements on our end.
  4. Verification confirmed. Your Tower Records account is verified. The dedicated Japanese number is retired from our service.

You never share your Tower Records password with us. We don't access your account. You operate the Tower Records interface; we handle the technical verification requirements.

Why Choose This Service

  • 100% success rate. Every Tower Records phone verification we have completed has succeeded. We have already delivered this service successfully — this isn't a new offering.
  • Real Japanese mobile number. Not VoIP, not virtual, not shared. Compatible with Tower Records' voice call verification requirements.
  • No account credentials shared. You keep your Tower Records account secure. We don't need or want your password.
  • Dedicated to your order. The number we use is allocated to your verification only, then retired.
  • Service edge documented. Most verification services cannot do this — Tower Records uses voice call verification that's technically different from standard SMS verification. We are among the few who can.

Standard vs Express Verification

  Standard Verification Express Verification
Processing Standard queue Priority queue
Dedicated Japanese mobile number ✓ Yes ✓ Yes
Real, non-VoIP carrier ✓ Yes ✓ Yes
1-on-1 customer support ✓ Yes ✓ Yes
100% success rate ✓ Yes ✓ Yes
Full refund if verification fails ✓ Yes ✓ Yes

Both tiers use the same real Japanese mobile number and the same verification procedure. The difference is order queue priority — Express is recommended for time-sensitive needs (upcoming live event pre-payment deadline, limited release on-sale time, etc.). Express does not affect Tower Records' own systems.

What to Know Before Ordering

  • This service covers Tower Records phone verification only. Once your account is verified, all subsequent activity — placing orders, Marketplace transactions, payment, shipping, prize draws, and Tower Records' own policies — is part of your Tower Records account and outside the scope of this service.
  • Tower Records verification is one-time per account. You will not need re-verification under normal circumstances.
  • The phone number used for your verification is allocated to your order only and retired after completion.
  • Platform requirements may change. Information here reflects Tower Records' policy as of 2026.

Refund Policy

If Tower Records phone verification cannot be completed using the number we provide, we issue a full refund. Full terms: refund policy. Given our 100% success rate to date, refunds have not been necessary — but the guarantee stands.

Other Japanese Platforms We Verify

If you shop across multiple Japanese platforms, we provide dedicated Japanese verification numbers for:

Each Japanese mobile number is allocated to a single account on a single platform — please order separately for each platform you need to verify.
